A cell line for functional analysis of the SMOR173C variant
Main author: Elín Sigurbjörnsdóttir. SMO protein is a key activator of the hedgehog pathway. A rare missense variant in the human SMO gene has found to be highly associated with hip osteoarthritis. To understand the variant in hedgehog signaling, the goal is to use cell lines to generate systems that truly represent the variant.
Network analysis of plasma metabolome reveals novel biomarkers for trauma severity
Sigurður Trausti Karvelsson. The study describes how a weighted correlation network analysis of untargeted metabolomic measurements of trauma patient plasma samples can stratify trauma patients based on trauma severity and identify novel biomarkers for trauma severity.
Northern Lights Assay reveals various extensive structural damage in cfDNA in body fluids
Jón Jóhannes Jónsson. Norðurljósagreining er ný aðferð sem getur m.a. greint margvíslegar skemmdir í utanfrumu DNA í líkamsvökvum. Hinir ýmsu líkamsvökvar voru með mismunandi skemmdamunstur. Sömuleiðis sáust sértækar skemmdir t.d. krosstrengi við krabbameinslyfjagjöf og sjúklingar með blóðeitrun höfðu sérkennandi skemmdamunstur.
p62/SQSTM1-droplet serves as a platform for autophagosome formation and anti-oxidative stress response
Sigurður Rúnar Guðmundsson
Selective autophagy plays an important role in the degradation of lipid droplets such as P-Granule, Ape1 Complex and p62/SQSTM1 bodies. In a recent paper we described the properties endogenous P62-bodies, the role of autophagy in their degradation and the significance of their turnover in vivo.
